FOUNDATION
Identity
IFPD is a Swiss Foundation (with legal status according to articles 80 and following of the Swiss Civil Code), which was established in Lausanne in 1999. IFPD's commitments are in line with the programme of action adopted at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo (1994) – as well as with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) endorsed by 189 member states at the United Nations Millennium Summit in 2000.
IFPD is not affiliated to any governmental, religious, political or ideological body or institution. It is a not-for-profit organisation and depends on donations to finance its projects.
IFPD's Board and Staff:
- work along the principles of transparency, open-mindedness and knowledge sharing
- seek to establish a sense of reliability among all project stakeholders, and fully respect the commitment, experience and know-how of the Foundation's partner organisations
- promote the active participation of project beneficiaries, and ensure that proposed activities are suitable with the local context
- guarantee the strictly focused allocation of all donated funds
IFPD operates with a small but effective infrastructure, and has built up an extensive network including United Nations agencies, international organisations, and a number of NGOs based both in industrialized and developing countries.
