The WIN project, implemented in the slums of Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and actively supported by IFPD since 2001, fulfils the manifold requirements of an integrated approach to poverty reduction:
- WIN assists the most vulnerable: women and children
- WIN is based on a local strategy focusing on the real needs of target communities
- WIN involves the active participation of beneficiaries
- WIN is aimed at the crucial role of women in the context of social and economic development
- WIN is an extremely cost-effective project
- WIN has a significant potential with respect to its impact on beneficiaries as well as its replication on a large scale
- WIN's objectives are in line with the majority of the Millennium Development Goals (education, women's empowerment, maternal and infant mortality, etc.).
