IFPD is a Swiss Foundation (with legal status according to articles 80 and following of the Swiss Civil Code), which was established in Lausanne in 1999 and is presently based in Geneva. Its commitments are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by world leaders at the United Nations Summit for the post-2015 development agenda.

Since its creation, IFPD has moved from advocacy oriented activities to the implementation of field projects based on an integrated approach including health, education, community infrastructure and income generation. The Foundation now concentrates its efforts on the promotion of social entrepreneurship among youth and women with a view to facilitating their financial autonomy and sustaining poverty reduction programs in the long run.

IFPD is not affiliated to any governmental, religious, political or ideological body or institution. It is a not-for-profit organisation and depends on donations to finance its projects.

IFPD’s Board and Staff:

  • Work along the principles of accountability, transparency, open-mindedness and knowledge sharing.
  • Fully respect the commitment, experience and know-how of their partner organisations.
  • Ensure that proposed project activities are appropriate for the local conditions.
  • Promote a sense of responsibility among all project stakeholders.
  • Encourage the active participation of beneficiaries.
  • Guarantee the strictly focused allocation of all donated funds.

IFPD operates with a small but effective administrative unit, and has built up an extensive network including United Nations agencies, international organisations, and NGOs based both in industrialized and developing countries.
