IFPD is a development NGO and strives to contribute actively to the elimination of poverty among the most vulnerable groups in developing countries. IFPD promotes and supports community based, integrated programmes and project activities in health, including reproductive health and family planning, education, income generation and livelihood enhancement.
IFPD is guided by the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), Cairo, Egypt (1994), and its subsequent modifications and specifications, as well as by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), adopted by the UN Member States in 2000, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by world leaders at the United Nations Summit for the post-2015 development agenda, held in New York from 25-27 September 2015.
Its mission is aimed at developing and supporting projects that improve the quality of life for women and youth, especially girls and young women, in developing countries, and that offer them equal opportunities to participate in the social and economic life of their communities, in compliance with their basic human rights.
