His Story
Ebrahim comes from Afghanistan, and arrived in Switzerland alone at the age of 20. He was a member of Afghanistan’s national swim team but there was no future for him as an elite sportsman in a country at war. He thus had to leave his homeland.

Background
Ebrahim came to Switzerland 2 years ago; he now has refugee status and owns an F permit. He receives social assistance from the EVAM, and takes intensive classes in French. He lives with his wife and son. In his home country, he worked in food service and as a swimming teacher. He still practices swimming in Lausanne. While witnessing the proliferation of food trucks, he noticed that none of them offered Afghan dishes – that is how his Afghan food truck project was born.
«As a sportsman, I love to surpass myself to achieve my objectives.»
His project
Ebrahim joined Alter Start in September 2019. He was looking for a job, and was eager to learn. He was interested in the food industry, in particular in food trucks. His idea: set up a food truck offering Afghan specials. He is aware that such a project is time consuming, demanding, and very challenging. He is nevertheless highly motivated, and hopes to be present one day among the public, at festivals and on local markets. The Alter Start program allows him to develop his project in accordance with Swiss contingencies.
