International Foundation for Population & Development
  • IFPD is a Swiss Foundation, established in Lausanne in 1999 and presently based in Geneva.
  • IFPD promotes social entrepreneurship as a means to escape poverty in a sustainable way.

IFPD’s commitments are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted at the United Nations Summit for the post-2015 development agenda.

Concretely, the Foundation aims at contributing to the following four SDGs…

Decent Work & Economic Growth

IFPD works towards the promotion of social entrepreneurship and the development of business skills among youth and women with a view to facilitating their financial autonomy and sustaining local poverty reduction in the long run.

Gender Equality

From its early origins, IFPD focused its activities on women and youth as the building blocks of families and societies, following the logic of the well-known proverb “if you educate a man you educate an individual, if you educate a woman you educate a whole family”.

Reduced Inequalities

Social entrepreneurship plays a significant role to reduce inequalities as it engages youth, promotes female leadership and can be developed in a diversified range of sectors (agriculture, catering services, sanitation, cleaning, recycling, etc.).

Partnerships for the Goals

IFPD sets up multi-actor alliances and creates synergies between the academic sector for professional training, local organizations rooted in the communities with access to the most vulnerable population, and private sector companies for the required social investment.
